One year anniversary

In exactly 24 hours from now it'll be one year to the date when I left to go to England for 6 months. CRAZY. It makes me want to go back and read all those posts, relive those memories. That was such a sweet time, and truly an incredible experience that I am grateful for.

I have grown so much in this year because of that experience.

And now, I'm just a little nostalgic, thinking of the best 6 months ever.

Experiences in Saint Mark's Square (Venice) have immediately come to mind.

Here's some guitars and other figures made of Venezian glass.

Here's me and Janelle enjoying some gelatto in the best area ever!!

MMMM, love these memories.

Transportation 101

So as bus driving has kicked into gear for me, things are a little interesting.

For starters, this 32 degree weather (and sometimes colder at 6:30am) is all good and wonderful when you're sleeping through it, or walking quickly through it before returning to your warm car. But how does this weather hold up when you're driving a bus...not too great.

The past 2 weeks I've been on a bus sans-heat which means I'm driving all morning with 100 layers and gloves, and still moving my fingers so they won't move.

And then as I've been driving (since a week before Thanksgiving) - I managed to get in a nice wreck on day FOUR of my job. First wreck ever, and really I wasn't phased. Probably because it was a bus, no one was hurt, and it was just me rolling back into another bus. Needless to say, I did lose field trip priviledges for 2 weeks (which is extra $$ only, not affecting my normal work schedule)...I also made a good impression on a few drivers by doing that - but I think people are coming around. I only broke one of my taillights, and bent 107's mirrors. Out of all the people for this to happen to! Haha.

Then I've had some interesting encounters with co-workers which, well if you need that story and don't know it already we can talk in person. That situation is however, getting better.

And lastly, my purpose for writing, is to let you have a little inside scoop at work. There are a few people you should know about, one group whose name was just given to them this morning as I was driving, I'll start with them first.

The Bus Brats - these are the people, who CAN wave to you, but don't. The people who mysteriously can't see the big yellow bus coming at them (even though they themselves are in one). Sometimes it's amazing how a vehicle of that size with all those lights can go incognito - but it can. But as bus drivers we wave to each other...and those on their throne who cannot dare wave at other drivers...bus brats.

Snobby Snoodes - these are the people who come to you "in your own interest" so that they can warn you of all the cliques and gossiping groups. While they are doing this they've failed to notice one thing...they themselves are gossiping at that moment. And OH, those "gossiping groups" they're talking about - haven't said a word to me about anyone. Mostly because they are the...

High school "cool" kids - yes we're still referring to grown adults, but we're talking about those people who are more often than not the "bus brats" and that will not talk to people as they wait to get on their route. They're too good for me. So much so - that I don't even know their names.

And that's it for now. My little Mean Girls soap opera that is quite amusing. I find myself spending a few minutes in there, then out to the bus (even if it's freezing). I try my best to love on people and get to know them, and be friendly to all...but then after a little bit I head on out to the bus to prevent myself from getting in the mix of all that.

Next up on the blog, Smackdown 101.
