Budget

So for Thursday I worked on balancing my check book and working on my budget all day. I still have been tweaking it - mostly because I hadn't had it all written out to see how much was going where (I spent A LOT eating out these past 2 weeks b/c of the remodel).

I didn't manage to take a picture but I have been wanting to post my budget on my blog for some time now. Two of my friends are missionaries in England and they post their budget for their supporters. I loved the transparency there, and lately I've been thinking about doing the same thing. If I'm aiming to be a good steward of the money God has given me, then I want to be at a point where I'm not ashamed to talk about finances and what's going where. The icing on the cake was going through the "treasures in heaven" portion of Matthew 6 last Sunday in church. **on a completely unrelated note, I feel like I'm in You've Got Mail as I type to you...such a good movie!

2009-2010 Monthly Budget

Rent (all inclusive) $445

Grocery (food, household items, personal) $100

Entertainment (eating out, movies, etc.) $75

Gas $80

Tithe $99

Misc. $50

Savings $45

This semester (and last) I've been forced to live on less than I ever thought possible. With the exception of my cell phone being an add on to the family line, my mom still covering a tank of gas and my car insurance, and opting out of health insurance (if I can be on my mom's plan for no cost to either of us - why not!?)...I've been on my own. That additional $200 and however much the insurance of my choosing will be, will be possible in my budget by the grace of God alone. This semester I'm living as cheap as ever, and the weird/cool thing is - there's still room to grow! Each month I find myself thrilled beyond belief to see that God has been faithful to me in such a concerning area to many.

Well, that's a telling picture for ya there!
