Locked in the apartment

I feel like Sunday deserves to have the story of my roommate and I being locked in and locked out of our apartment simultaneously. There was no picture of this incident because I had just woken up, and yes it was TECHNICALLY Saturday night at 11:15pm...but since emergency maintenance came and was here until Sunday morning...it works! :)

So at 11:15 I am found sleeping soundly in my bed. All of the sudden I hear these loud bangs on the window, which I will later find were rocks. Not pebbles, rocks. I wake up and see that my phone is lit up, so I answer it. Janelle is locked outside on this 34 degree night. She tells me that I've double bolted her out of the apartment. I am freaking out because I knew I did not do that, and that made me think that someone was in the apartment (so much for talking about worry in church a week prior...!) I went downstairs and saw that the top bolt was not locked, so that made me even more nervous that she wasn't getting in. At this point I was sure that someone was inside with me, even if all the lights were on and they were nowhere to be found. I tried to unlock the bolt but it wouldn't budge. "It's locked!" I went to open the window so that she could know what I was doing...I could not believe it wouldn't open.

She sat outside telling me to hurry because she was cold, but this was no joke I was locked in the apartment! I busted out the screen for the window (bending it a little but I had too much adrenaline) and let her come in through the window by the door. We both tried to unlock it but it wouldn't budge.

So we called Emergency Maintenance and they came at like midnight to fix our door and give us a new lock. BIZARRE.

I just had to share! :)

  1. I love that I had no idea you were thinking someone was in there with you, so when you yelled "It's locked!" and were panicking, I was annoyed with you and screamed "I know!" I was so confused why you wouldn't just unlock it for me.
