So a week ago I went off the map for a few days due to the nasty stomach bug going around College Station. I have faired well in my war against germs on the bus, but failed miserably at home after my roommate had it...so I didn't get a single pic from last Friday-Sunday. Mostly that's because I didn't see anything really, except the back of my eyelids. Here's the shots from the first part of this week that I was unable to get out sooner...
Wednesday deserves two pictures, both within the drive to/from Houston to take Kate (a friend from Sheffield) back to the airport so she could go home to England. It was so good to hear that accent and get to spend some time with her while she was here! It was like England came to me...and that's always a good thing.
On the way home from the airport I was behind the huge generator that only moves 10 miles a day and is on it's way up Hwy 6 as we speak towards Riesel to go in a power plant. It will power up to 900,000 homes. Whoa! It's something like 40 feet wide, 300 feet long. I got a picture of the actual one that is on its way. There is a crew that goes in front of it and puts out dirt/mulch on the sides of the road to make it wider, and then also takes down the lights, etc. in a town where it has to pass through but is too tall. CRAZY.

The huge generator!
Saying good bye to Kate...
I know sometimes I add random pictures but I think those are the best...allows you to see that these ridiculous things I tell you ARE true. As I was waiting on a bunch of elementary kids to finish playing at Mount Aggie, I saw yet another building being built on campus. But the best part about this one? It's the second one I've seen with a tree on top! Literally on top. Check it out, top right corner of the building.

On Monday Kristin came back to CS to see everyone and so here's the group at Polly's Cocina. Yep Mi Cocina's (all 4) name changed to Polly's Cocina within the last week and a half. And the funny thing is that it is identical, but that they took the old menus and blacked out with Sharpie where it said "Mi Cocina." Haha...these are some friends from Living Hope back in the day.

Well that's all for now.
Keep the faith,

apparently that's a superstition with construction workers. They put a tree on the tallest part of the building...I think my mom told me that once cause I was confused why a tree was on top of a building. I think in my head I thought a seed fell and started growing.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's why I am an accounting major.
Here's an article about it!
