I've got some thoughts and burdens to share, as well as some light-hearted fun with new punishments I'm thinking up for my bus riders who refuse to obey the rules (i.e. stay in their seats or don't leave trash everywhere.)
Thoughts
These are the end days. Are they not? And I'm not talking politically, though you could make a case for it. It's just...the persecution in this world is rising! I read an article on persecution.org about 2 Christians in Florida who were shot by some teenager for evangelizing. The tolerance in this world is getting a little extreme - it's freedom of speech unless we're talking about Christian values, etc. and then that's just not ok. Our country and world need some prayer. Seriously. Revival's not happening until we get a unified heart. I pray that we will be radical in the way we pray for souls to be saved, and for faith to stand firm for believers everywhere...increased persecution is NOT an excuse to back down and to not share the Gospel. Ooh this is a topic that's been burdening my heart lately and I ask you to take a look at that website, stay informed, pray for the church worldwide. We need a worldview badly!
Punishments...muahahahaha
So yesterday was a torrential downpour for a bit, which made me turn on the AC (on low of course) in the bus so that we wouldn't fog up! Well this girl in the back would not get out of the aisle no matter how many times I would remind her. Finally I decided - I'll blast that rear AC which is right above her head when she's in the aisle. The faces of everyone back there were PRICELESS. "No! NO! Danielle please!" I couldn't contain laughter, and believe me there's many opportunities on the road with these guys that I just can't help it - I at least am smiling. I mean overhearing their conversations, etc...there's some good stuff there. So I told them it would stay on until this girl would stay out of the aisle. HALLELUJAH! She got the point.
My bus has been getting pretty nasty lately. Even though they're not supposed to be eating on the bus, let's be honest - we know they're sneaking it on there. But in the back there's these 3 seats that have rips in them and I've been informed by some of those kids, that they're putting trash in those holes. Nasty. So today I told everyone to throw their trash away when they got off...one kid in the back had been pulling stuff out so I told him to go on ahead and throw that away. Well apparently he had put it back already, so I said to get it and when he refused, well he got all of the trash out of there.
It.was.nasty. So disgusting. Everytime he put his hand down there he'd go "ohhh gross. OHH." all that kind of stuff. I think it was very effective, and hopefully he'll tell his friends and they'll start throwing out their trash before they leave.
Hey you gotta be strict. But this bus will be better for it. I find enjoyment in getting creative about different ways to get through to the kids that I'm in charge, and that I will definitely enforce the rules. :) Haha.
